Autism & ADHD
ADHD - Right to Choose (NHS England)
At the moment there is a scheme called ‘Right to Choose’ which means that you can choose where your child is seen for their ADHD assessment. Some of these facilities are not able to prescribe which means that after a potential diagnosis you may end up joining the NHS ‘queue’ to be seen by a hospital clinician to prescribe.
A GP is currently not able to initiate prescriptions but we are happy to monitor them in conjunction with a specialist under shared care guidelines. So please choose your provider carefully and ideally pick one that can prescribe as well as diagnose.
If you would like to initiate a referral please fill in the online forms required. Once these have been completed and a provider chosen, please use econsult to contact the GP surgery and the named GP will then do a covering letter for your referral. Schools can also help with self-referrals.
