World Immunisation Week
Protecting every generation
World Immunisation Week takes place from 24th to 30th April, and it’s an important reminder of how vital vaccines are in keeping us healthy at every stage of life. This global campaign, led by the World Health Organization (WHO), highlights the lifesaving power of vaccinations and encourages people of all ages to stay protected against preventable diseases.
Why immunisation matters
Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to protect yourself, your family, and your community. They help prevent serious illnesses such as measles, whooping cough, flu, pneumonia, HPV‑related cancers, and many more. By staying up to date with vaccinations, you reduce your risk of getting ill and help stop diseases from spreading.
This year’s theme, “For every generation, vaccines work”, celebrates how immunisation protects people throughout their lives, from babies and children to adults and older people.
How we’re supporting the campaign
NHS Kent and Medway is proud to support WHO’s World Immunisation Week. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing trusted information to help people understand the benefits of vaccination and how to access the vaccines they need.
You may see messages from the campaign across our services and online. These materials are designed to raise awareness, answer common questions, and encourage everyone to check whether they are up to date with their vaccinations.
Find out which vaccines you need
If you’re unsure which vaccines you or your family members may need, you can find clear, reliable information on our local website
The site includes details on routine childhood vaccinations, flu and COVID‑19 vaccines, travel vaccines, and immunisations recommended for adults and older people.
Protect yourself. Protect others
Vaccines save lives. By getting vaccinated, you’re not only protecting yourself — you’re helping to protect vulnerable people in your community, including those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
This World Immunisation Week, take a moment to check your vaccination status and encourage friends and family to do the same. Together, we can keep every generation healthier and safer.
