Unpaid carers engagement
Kent County Council is working in partnership with voluntary community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations to undertake a public health needs assessment, which will review the health needs of unpaid carers in Kent. The purpose of this work is to provide an evidence base to support ongoing action in Kent to support unpaid carers.
A carer is someone who is providing unpaid care and support to a family member, partner, friend, or neighbour who is disabled, has an illness or long-term condition, or who needs extra help as they get older. This support could be a few hours a week, or it could be round the clock care. Both children and adults can be carers.
If you are currently or have ever been a carer for a family member, partner, friend or neighbour, we want to hear from you through our anonymous survey. Your responses will help us understand the health and wellbeing needs of unpaid carers in Kent and help us make recommendations for further actions. The survey is open from Monday, 26 January to Sunday, 22 February and should take around 10 minutes to complete.
After the survey and engagement period has closed, Kent County Council will be reviewing the responses and considering the data and insights provided to help create a public health needs assessment of unpaid carers in Kent. The health needs assessment will then be used to help inform further action supported by the carers strategy action plan. An update will be posted on the Let's Talk webpage, and the completed Public Health Needs Assessment will be published on the Kent Public Health Observatory website.
