Are you between 40 and 74?
If you have not already been diagnosed with heart disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease or stroke, and are aged between 40 and 74, then you will receive an invitation from your GP or the council for a NHS Health Check, the appointment will not be at this surgery but at another local venue.
The results of the Health Check are given to you and forwarded to your GP. This will give you and your GP a clearer picture of your health, and help you to take action to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and kidney disease
Drs Ken Castro and Nicki Perry hold alternate sessions at the Trenchwood Medical Centre every Monday afternoons from 2.20pm to 4.20pm. The operations performed include joint injections and the removal of skin lesions
Test results have to be checked by the doctor, you may be advised when to telephone the surgery to receive any test results, for blood test results this is generally between 5 to 7 days after the test was taken .
Results for X-rays, scans etc can take 2 or 3 weeks before they are received at the surgery. Please telephone our receptionists between 11.00 am and 4.00 pm for your results.
Please note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Some travel services incur fees which are payable by cash or cheque at the time of your consultation.
Most immunisations are free to registered patients and we can provide Malaria tablets, Medical Packs, Blood tests and Certificates.
These services are chargeable. We charge the fees recommended by the British Medical Association, and require prepayment. A tariff for these services is on display in the waiting room.
The NHS E-Referral Service
The NHS E-Referral Service, which was previously called 'Choose and Book' or 'Patient Choice', is an electronic referral service. 99% of referrals to a hospital consultant are made using the E-Referral Service (ERS). Patients can choose where and when they want to be seen when being referred for further investigation or treatment by their GP and can manage their appointemnt over the phone or on the internet.
Your GP will routinely refer you to a local hospital but patients can choose to attend any hospital in England which holds a contract with the NHS. This includes some private hospitals for certain specialities, provided you meet the hospital's referral criteria. There are sometimes restrictions on GPs referring to London Hospitals, you may need to be seen locally first.
If you GP feels a referral is appropriate he/she will usually refer you using the The E-Referral Service. Once your referral is processed by your GP's secretary she will post a letter to you with your unique booking number and password and instructions to enable you to make your appointment. Sometimes she will book an appointment for you, you can change the appointment if it is not convenient. Certain services are referred to via a 'Triage' service, the service provider will then phone/email you regarding your appointment, your letter will inform you of this.
